The Library Communications Framework (LCF) is being developed as a replacement for the dated SIP and SIP2 protocols, in a process being led by BIC. We see many benefits to suppliers, libraries and end users in terms of enhanced service delivery, improved interoperability, enhanced analytics and greater control over charges and payments, and we are part of the LCF Consortium supporting and promoting the adoption and use of LCF.
There has been real progress recently, and we have now implemented and installed LCF authentication at one site. We are currently testing with two more customers, and have another two who are planning to go live with Spydus LCF in December.
We see this as a real step forward for libraries and suppliers and the way library IT systems integrate to deliver improved services for both staff and library visitors.
